I have provided the essentials of the experience that has lead me here today and excised all drama. Only the facts are laid before you:

Experienced 4th quarter layoff 2006 from large international RE developer in Florida; found employment only to find employer was operating illegally in Florida and shut down by State a few weeks ago; company accounts seized including no paychecks for three week’s work. Now, secured a great position with a great company only to find myself penniless. I begin my new job soon and need a hand up to help put back on track to success.

Our charitable agencies in this area are overwhelmed and lacking in funds and resources to help due to area being hard hit by market conditions and large influx of new community members.

Gas, groceries, power, car payment, rent, water, toiletries, daily essentials needed until I get a few paychecks then I can start repaying the generosity. $3,500. Repay at $300 per month until paid in full. I wish I had something or anything of value I could offer as collateral, but unfortunately, I do not. My word, my honor to repay is all I can offer.

If you have the means and opportunity to spread your angel wings to consider a hand up to someone like me, please respond in like.

With grace and gratitude, thank you.

I've had it with $40 PCs bought at auction and "upgraded" with scrounged components. No more lengthy sessions searching the net for drivers; no more disassemble/test/reassemble/repeat cycles; no more hardware/software version incompatibilities; no more panic when someone reaches towards a USB port with their digital camera cable; no more grumbling, bitching, moaning evenings of reinstalling *everything* after a fatal crash caused by an irrecoverable jumbling of interrupts because someone plugged in a new device without asking first. I repeat: I've had enough!

So, herewith, my request. I'm now formally begging for a late-model high-end PC complete with impressive gewgaws, all fully and mutually functional, and a full set of necessary software, also installed and fully functional. (Defintion of "necessary" can be provided on request to any potential benefactor.) And while I'm at it, I want a comfortable, mutiply-adjustable recliner chair, and adjustable brackets for monitor and keyboard that will allow them to be used from an upright or a reclining position, and a pointing device I can operate accurately without wanting to cut off my right arm after a ridiculously short time. I think that's all. I'm easily contactable if you have such a thing to spare. (Ummm, make that with 240V power supply, please.)

Either that, or a roll of black/yellow "caution" tape that I can wrap around and around and around and around and around the box, so people don't assume it's fuctional in quite the same way as their PC at home...

It is only with G4s and the cool native instrument programs that one can get the hip "real" sounds everyone likes. (I am a victim of a MIDI Stockholm Syndrome where, due to poverty, I've been forced to write with the old Quicktime G3 instruments, which, objectively suck, but having been a prisoner to them for so long, I finally love them, but know I must give them up someday.) Anyway, so I went to the bank and opened up a separate G4 savings account, put $50 in and it automatically takes $25 per month out of my checking. As used G4s get cheaper over time, and as my account slowly builds, somewhere there will be a meeting point of my money and the going rate for older G4s. But if anyone has one they want to get rid of for a hundred dollars because they're already onto a G5, I'd happily buy it if you're in the Bay Area.

Not only is it fast, but it's ultra light weight, way lighter than all the competition, for a laser deal. And it's only $199. And although the ink jets are only $99, still, you go broke on those thirty-buck cartriges. True, a laser toner cartridge can run the better part of 70 buck, but it lasts forever. In one year on pays for the laser printer in terms of number of ink jet cartridges not purchased. And no matter the DPI thing, laser, at any resolution, is still way cripser than ink jet.
